Transportation in Luoyang
Air: you would do better to fly into or out of Zhengzhou; the CAAC (Zhongguo Minhang Tel: 393 1120; Jichang Lu) is in town, north of the train station, through hotels sell tickets more quickly.
Bus: fast buses to Zhengzhou run every 15 to 20 minutes via the expressway. Slow buses take the old road andass through Gongyi City.
Fast buses to Shaolin depart every half hour until 4:30 pm; slow buses run until 6 pm and pass through Dengfeng. Travel time will speed up when the expressway to Dengfeng is completed.
There are frequent buses to Anyang and Kaifeng.
Sleeper and express buses travelling to extra-provincial destinations seem to rumble past the outside of the train/bus stations continually. Their destinations include Beijing, Xi'an, eight to and Taiyuan.
Train: Direct trains go to Beijing, shanghai and Xi'an. A two-tiered tourist train runs between Zhengzhou and Xi'an daily—it stops in Luoyang en route at 12:25pm (arriving in Xi'an around 7 am the same day).
There are some direct trains heading north to Taiyuan (193 Yuan, 13 hours) and some going south to Yichang (10 hours). Yichang is a port on Yangzi River, where you can catch the ferry for Chongqing.
